Manuel Montoro Esteban

Manuel Montoro Esteban is a computational designer and BIM developer currently working as a Consultant in Automation & BIM Development at Arup Madrid (from March 2025). Before returning to Spain, he spent over five years at Bryden Wood in London — first as Computational Designer (October 2019 – January 2022), then as Senior Computational Designer (January 2022 – October 2024) — where he worked on complex geometry systems, parametric design, and automation workflows for large-scale architecture and engineering projects.

He holds an MSc in Architectural Computation from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL (2018–2019), where he also taught as Workshop Instructor in October 2019. He completed his Master of Architecture at UPM's ETSAM (2017–2018) and his Architecture degree at ETSAM (2011–2017), and undertook a study period at Tongji University. He also completed a Software Engineering bootcamp at HyperionDev (2022–2023) covering Python, SQL, NLP, and data-driven web applications. Early in his career he worked as a Computational Designer at Automated Architecture (AUAR) Ltd in London — computational design applied to furniture manufacturing and XR design.

At MIAWS he serves as Module Coordinator for F4 (AI Prototyping — generative parametric design systems, AI-driven form exploration, and computational prototyping workflows) and Module Coordinator for F8 (AI Digital Fabrication — robotic fabrication integration, digital twins for construction monitoring, and precision manufacturing systems).
