Álvaro Sánchez Garda

Álvaro Sánchez Garda is an architect and computational designer working at the intersection of architecture, automation, medical technology and digital fabrication. Trained at the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, his practice focuses on developing parametric workflows and custom tools using Rhino, Grasshopper, Python and related platforms.
He collaborates with architecture studios, research groups and technology-driven teams, helping translate complex design and technical requirements into clear, adaptable and usable digital systems. His work ranges from architectural and structural automation to medical 3D modelling, XR-oriented workflows and digital fabrication processes.
He has also been involved in international architectural competitions, including the winning teams of Europan 16 in Levanger and Europan 18 in Karlstad. His work explores how computational design can become more than a modelling technique: a way to structure decisions, accelerate iteration and connect architecture with emerging technological fields.
At MIAWS he teaches in Module F3 (AI Modeling — AI-driven 3D modelling, generative form, and parametric intelligence applied to architectural scale) and Module F4 (AI Prototyping — generative parametric systems, computational prototyping, and simulation-driven design iteration), bringing the rigour of an award-winning computational design practice.
