Milena Rakočević

Milena Rakočević is an architect from ETSAM (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) who works at the intersection of building metabolism and technical design. Her starting point is a premise: before introducing new architecture, one must understand the material and energy flows a place already sustains. She integrates urban and territorial data with digital simulation across multiple scales.

That approach underpins her master's thesis, Scaling Metabolism, which reads architecture as an inorganic extension of human metabolism and traces four vital cycles — hydrological, digestive, respiratory and energetic — from the cellular to the planetary scale. At MIAWS she is part of the programme's academic coordination.
