Javier Guerrero García

Architecture · Machine Learning · Adjunct Professor Universitat de Barcelona

Javier Guerrero García is an architect, machine learning researcher, and educator based in Barcelona. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Universitat de Barcelona (from January 2025), where he teaches 'Artificial Creativity' — a course exploring the use of generative AI for artistic and architectural practice using ComfyUI, Stable Diffusion, and Flux. He holds a Master in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2022–2023) and a degree in Architecture from ETSAV-UPC (2014–2022).

He is co-founder of SISMESS (from March 2024), a research architecture collective with Alex Piera whose core focus is treating every project — including the final built object — as an exploratory device aimed at discovering design operations that can be deployed by others. He teaches the Galaxia Generative Images programme at ETSAV-UPC (both for professors and for students, 2025), and taught AI+Architecture courses at BAI Building & Architecture Institute, IL3-UB, and in collaboration with MIAUTICS. In March 2026 he co-led the intensive BAI 'IA & Arquitectura' workshop at the ETSAG (University of Granada) alongside John Porral, covering AI fundamentals, creative AI, and design workflows for architecture students. He previously worked as an architect at Guillermo Santomá's studio on full-scale renovation projects and an AI research project using language models to interpret archived texts.

At MIAWS he teaches in Module F9 (AI Integration — connecting all the tools, pipelines, and knowledge bases built across the programme into a coherent, documented, and adaptive professional AI practice ecosystem), bringing the perspective of a practitioner who has built generative AI workflows at every scale of architectural production.
