Federico del Blanco García

Federico Luis del Blanco García holds a PhD in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), graduating with distinction, and later earned the Professional Certificate in Computer Science from Harvard University. He has received the UPM Teaching Excellence Award and the Excellence Scholarship awarded by the CAM. He leads the UPM innovation group Architectural Computing and Design for Construction [ACDC]. At the ETSAM he coordinates the BIM and Computational Design workshops, the BIM module of the Master's Degree in Industrialisation, Prototyping and Architectural Design, and the instrumental module of the Master's Degree in Architectural Communication, offered within the International Excellence Campus of the UCM and UPM. He has also served as coordinator of the UPM Master's Degree in Computational Design and has been a guest lecturer at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.

His research focuses on AI-driven computational design, BIM-based simulation and digital technologies applied to sustainable architecture. Within these research areas he has developed research projects and academic collaborations with institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Virginia Tech, the Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center, the National Archaeological Museum of Spain, the University of Bordeaux, IESARQ, SDU CREATE at the University of Southern Denmark and Seoul City. Prior to joining academia, he spent more than ten years working on professional architectural projects with organisations such as Toyo Ito & Associates, NH Hotels, Real Madrid C.F. and the Madrid City Council.
