Ainhoa Church Vidal

Ainhoa Church is an architect, researcher, and educator trained at ETSAM-UPM, with an Erasmus year at TU Delft and a SERP research fellowship at the Tsukamoto Lab, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Her work moves between territory and detail: reading what already exists in a place — in land, water, and built fabric — before deciding what to add.

She worked at Bjarke Ingels Group in Copenhagen, contributing to the adaptive reuse of an 88,000 m² industrial building in Berlin, among other projects. Her research investigates the logics already written into existing fabric, spanning hydrological landscape design on the northern slope of the Alhambra (MECHINAL, master's thesis, Distinction 10/10), the transformation of 80,000+ vacant urban lots into agricultural infrastructure in Tokyo (Tokyo Neo-Farmers, bachelor's thesis, Distinction 9.6/10), and adaptive domesticity in metropolitan Madrid.

In parallel, she has built an active teaching practice: over 600 hours as a specialist instructor at MIAUTICS in 3D modelling, GIS cartography, and digital design methodology, and as an instructor at Centro Colón teaching architectural infographics within the SEPE national qualification framework. She is also co-editor of ExorCity: Granada Monumental (TC Cuadernos, 2025) and co-curator of the exhibition Utopía: Ciudad y Realidad at the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Granada.

At MIAWS she teaches in Module F2 (AI Territory — territorial analysis, geospatial AI, site reading, and urban intelligence), bringing the perspective of a practitioner trained at one of the world's most spatially ambitious architecture firms.
